If you were to take one look at the calendar you’d be wondering, “where has the year gone?” Whilst it’s only January, we’re nearly at the end of this first month of the new year and it’s gone by quick. We’ve only just got our website up and running and we can safely say, we think you will love the things we have planned coming over the next few months to keep you entertained. Our first look at 2018 is the catering wedding trends that we expect to see hitting the spring and summer banquets you have planned for this year.
Whilst wedding catering is just one of the many different services we offer, we think that the time you spend planning such an event goes to show most for you and your guests on this special day.
We’ve taken a look through all the glossy magazines to find the wedding trends that are on point for this year already; you’d be amazed at how fast some of these have been requested when we’ve taken bookings for the end of this year and even into next.
So what can you expect to see on the dining tables of wedding services this year? We have a few ideas.
Puffed & Popped
Have you been noticing a lot of puffed rice right now in restaurants and on TV shows like Masterchef? Yes, the craze of last year has hit the wedding trend selections and even we’re a little surprised. Think of Rice Krispies and you start to get a picture of “puffed rice.” It’s essentially the same thing, only in a more gourmet setting. It provides texture and if seasoned correctly, can work with different flavours as well; sweet or savoury. Definitely one to look out for.
Look to the middle east
Before anyone says, curry, we’re not disagreeing that a curry flavoured wedding isn’t great but we’re talking, wedding trends. What we mean by looking to the middle east is something a little different. Strong spiced flavours from Israel and Lebanon are the talk of the wedding glossy mags. Things like falafel and spiced kebabs done in a unique way are lifting the spirits of those looking for something just that little bit different. Rose water flavours are big for 2018 and we think, this is going to be the quiet, yet fancied contender for the wedding scene this year.
Pies are strong
If you thought pies were reserved for those that love a cheeky Greggs mid week, you’re wrong. Everyone loves pie and guess what, a good caterer (wink wink) can put together individual pies based on your guest selections. From meat eaters to non meat eaters, a pie served with creamy mash and fresh vegetables can turn a banquet into something a little different, oh and it is most definitely a menu item for a modern day wedding.
Everyone loves, really loves, Cheese!
Who would have thought the humble three tier wedding cake, the stuff your parents still have a slice of in the freezer would go out of fashion? We didn’t, but there is a trend today that is taking the UK by storm. Cheese. Yes, cheese towers, boards and serving platters are all the rage. They were big in 2017 and we think they will be bigger in 2018. The UK has some of the best makers of the stuff in the world so why wouldn’t a good old English wedding have it? They would, that’s the point!
